Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) has announced Penny Steffen, RVT, as Vice President of the Board of Directors, as Lorraine Serhienko, RVT, moves on to new opportunities.
RVTTC looks forward to working with Penny, and welcomes her extensive experience to the role. Penny has enjoyed a diverse career as an RVT, both in practice and in the areas of education. Penny has worked as an Instructor in Animal Health Technology at Grande Prairie Regional College, and as a 4-H Specialist for Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, where she was responsible for program development, design and execution. Most recently, Penny works as Territory Manager for Vetoquinol Canada. Penny’s commitment goes beyond her contributions in her profession. In 2019 she received the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award, recognizing extraordinary Albertans whose volunteer efforts have contributed to the well-being of their community and fellow community members. “Penny brings a wealth of experience to the Board, gained over a long and successful career in veterinary medicine,” said RVTTC Executive Director, Cera Youngson. “We look forward to working with her.”
Penny was named to her new position in March, 2023 as Lorraine Serhienko submitted her resignation earlier this year. Lorraine has served on the Board for RVTTC for nearly two years, taking on the role of vice-president in July, 2022. Over this time, she made many contributions to the success of the organization. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I thank Lorraine and wish her and her family all the best in the future” said Youngson. Lorraine leaves the RVTTC in a strong position for continued growth as it delivers on its mission to unite, advance, and strengthen the Registered Veterinary Technologist and Technician profession across Canada through leadership and advocacy to promote excellence in animal healthcare.
