KEMPTVILLE, Ontario – Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) announced key executive changes on July 21, as the organization concluded their Annual General Meeting. Lorraine Serhienko, RVT, of Saskatchewan, has accepted the role of Vice-Present of the Board of Directors. Serhienko replaces outgoing VP, Cally Merrit, RVT, who has been appointed President of the Board.
RVTTC looks forward to working with Lorraine, and welcomes her extensive experience to the role. Lorraine has worked as an accomplished RVT, both is large animal and small animal practice. She has also been an instructor at Lakehead College, teaching various courses in lecture and lab format to the Animal Health Technician Program, Veterinary Medical Assistant Program and the Western Ranch and Cow Horse Program. Since 2016 Lorraine has held the role of Assistant to the Registrar for the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association. Lorraine has served the RVTTC Board of Directors as a member and representative of Saskatchewan and is a committee member on the American Association of Veterinary State Board (AAVSB) Conference Committee (2021 to present).
Lorraine was name to her new position in July as Cally Merrit steps into the role of President. Cally’s Board experience is extensive, having served on the OAVT Board of Directors for six years as Vice President. She has volunteered and chaired many OAVT committees including college accreditation, governance, bylaw and policy, nominations and legislative task force. Cally has also served on RVTTC’s board and on special projects including scope of practice taskforce, career ladder taskforce, labour mobility task force, and RVTTC representative for the development of mental health in agriculture pilot program.
