Annual educational scholarship aids in the advancement to a life-long career as a Registered Veterinary Technologist and Technician

In partnership with Fetch by the Dodo (formerly Petplan Pet Insurance), the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) is excited to announce that the nomination process for the 2022 RVTTC Student bursary program is open.

Now in its sixth year, the annual educational scholarship goes to a final-year student registered in an accredited veterinary/animal health technician/technologist program in Canada who exemplifies compassionate care, goes above and beyond to improve the profession and demonstrates considerable clinical strength.

A $500 bursary is presented to one student from each provincial association region to assist with upcoming fees to become an RVT professional, such as Veterinary Technician National Examination registration, a professional membership, job re-location, and other expenses for final placements.

“RVTTC and Fetch value the efforts of our vet tech students and are eager to assist in their path to become an RVT,” says RVTTC President Heather Shannon RVT. “With this financial support, we wish to see the doors open into a profession that has limitless career opportunities.”

A total of 37 AHT/VT students have benefited from the RVTTC Student bursary program as they pursue their career as an RVT.

Students are nominated by program faculty demonstrating the following qualities:

  • Students enrolled in CVMA and/or OAVT accredited AHT/VT program
  • Maintain good academic standing (min average 65%)
  • Express sincere interest in the Human-Animal Bond and demonstrates a high-level proficiency in the handling of dogs and cats and associated skill components
  • Display interest in client communication
  • Preference will be given to those who have contributed to their community in a manner that demonstrates their love and compassion for animals.

Deadline for submission is March 15, 2022. Ask your program coordinator for details on how to apply.
