Laval, QC – September 9, 2022 – RVT Month, in October, provides an ideal backdrop for recognizing the work of registered veterinary technicians and technologists (RVTs) as a viable and rewarding life-long career, with endless upportunities for personal and professional growth. With that in mind, CommuniVET™ is launching two complementary new initiatives exclusively for Canadian RVTs.
RVT PWR is a FREE day-long, CE accredited, live virtual event on October 22, 2022 (10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT), in partnership with the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC). It provides a unique opportunity for Canadian RVTs to meet inspiring, trail-blazing colleagues from across Canada, and to explore the many options available to help them create the rewarding life-long careers they envision with the profession.
“We’re excited to partner with CommuniVET™ for the RVT PWR event for RVTs and by RVTs. Session leaders, from presenters to panelists and moderators, have a background and experience as RVTs. Many of them have changed roles along the way and all are committed to embracing their power, and pursuing their professional development goals,” says Cally Merritt, president of RVTTC.
The second initiative being launched to mark RVT Month is the CommuniVET™ fund, monetary support to help cover up to $1,500 of expenses incurred by an eligible Canadian RVT to pursue their continuing education whether it be to perfect their medical skills, their business management acumen or leadership.
To keep things fun, eligible RVTs who wish to be considered for the fund are asked to produce a short video (60 seconds or less) showing how they would use the fund to expand their skills and/or advance their career.
Videos must be posted by 11:55 p.m. EDT on October 10, 2022, in order to be submitted to the judging panel, which consists of representatives of provincial RVT associations, who are responsible for selecting three finalists.
Both the CommuniVET™ fund and the RVT PWR event will come together on October 22, 2022, during the live event, when the three finalists’ videos will be presented, and the fund recipient will be announced.
“We want these initiatives to be accessible to all RVTs – which is why we’ve removed potential barriers to participation by making registration FREE,” says Caroline Desforges, president of CommuniVET™. “We also hope that the opportunity to help choose the winning video and to learn the results in real time – not to mention the chance to win an attendance prize – will provide further incentive to participate live.” Adds Ms. Desforges, “We can’t wait to see the fun, creative videos Canadian RVTs!”
