CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I – Becky Bartley of Ontario has been named the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Canadian Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) of the Year Award for her mentorship of others and commitment to excellence.

Rebecca (Becky) Bartley, is an award-winning Registered Veterinary Technician, entrepreneur, and advocate for the advancement of veterinary technicians in Canada. She is the Founder and CEO of Trooper Pet Veterinary Nursing, a mobile veterinary nursing service that delivers accessible, low-stress care to pets in their homes across Simcoe County and surrounding regions.
Becky graduated with honours from the Georgian College Veterinary Technician program in 2016 and has since built a career centered on innovation, patient advocacy, and elevating the role of RVTs within the veterinary profession. She is also a co-founder of Nuleaf Veterinary Group, a collaborative, hybrid veterinary wellness clinic model that integrates RVTs and veterinarians in a modern, team-based approach to proactive care. Becky currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT), where she currently serves as Treasurer, contributes to governance, advocacy, and strategic direction for the profession.
Beyond clinical practice and leadership, Becky is passionate about education and community engagement. She teaches pet handling and veterinary fundamentals through the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, helping to inspire and prepare the next generation of animal care professionals. She also leads the annual Trooper Pet Holiday Stocking Fundraiser, supporting local families and community initiatives, and regularly volunteers with numerous not-for-profit organizations throughout the Simcoe County region.
Becky exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding RVT through her ability to translate clinical expertise into innovative, real-world solutions that improve both patient care and the profession itself. Her work spans in-home veterinary nursing, clinic-based hybrid care, and business leadership; demonstrating a rare ability to integrate compassion, clinical skill, and system-level thinking. She actively mentors other RVTs, supports industry events, and advocates for expanded utilization of veterinary technicians. Through public speaking, business leadership, and professional involvement, she continues to influence the evolution of veterinary care in Canada. Her work is helping to shape a future where RVTs are empowered, respected, and fully utilized within the healthcare team.
Her contributions have been recognized through multiple awards, including the OAVT RVT of the Year (2021), and she was named a finalist for the 2025 AAHA RVT of the Year Award. In addition, her business, Trooper Pet Veterinary Nursing, has received numerous local awards and recognition across Barrie and Simcoe County, highlighting both her commitment to exceptional client care and her impact within the community. Becky is also actively involved in mentorship and education, serving on the Georgian College Veterinary Technician Program Advisory Committee.

The award was announced on June 25, 2026 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island by Nancy MacFarlane, RVT (President of RVTTC) and Dr. Sandy Belle El Khoury (Hill’s representative), and celebrated by attendees of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s Award Gala.
